MY union values

I am dedicated to raising up member voices, worker solidarity, and fiscal responsibility. Join me and the movement to breathe further life into these union values within the largest labor union in the country!

RANK-AND-FILE member VOICE

PRIORITIES

Rank-and-file members must drive the NEA agenda and have a direct voice in the governance of the union.

Rank-and-file members must lead political action endorsements, activism, and political advocacy.

Rank-and-file members must engage elected leadership with their aspirations for a fully democratic union.

PROGRESS SO FAR

As an MTA Board Member, I have brought forward and passed New Business Items at both Board of Directors and MTA Annual Meetings on behalf of the members I serve.

As a member of the Candidate Recommendations Committee, I have only cast votes in favor of candidates who demonstrate strong union and public education values through their previous actions as a political advocate.

I am the first President of my local in 30 years to have brought full delegations of rank-and-file members to the MTA Annual Meeting to advocate for local priorities at the state-wide level.

united worker Solidarity

PRIORITIES

NEA Leadership must conduct an audit of business affiliations to ensure ethical treatment of workers.

NEA Members must participate in the education & decision-making for worker solidarity actions.

NEA Management must ethically treat its workers and staff, regardless of union membership.

PROGRESS SO FAR

In 2023, I moved a New Business Item (NBI) at the MTA Annual Meeting and NEA Representative Assembly to disaffiliate with union-busting businesses. The MTA overwhelmingly passed the NBI; however the NEA Representative Assembly rejected the language. You can hear me speak on this NBI in the video above.

In 2024, I moved & the Representative Assembly Passed NBI 12, which requires the NEA to educate membership about the anti-union practices of Amazon and encourages members to research how they can support their local Amazon workers.

In 2024, I marched on the picket line with the NEASO staff after they were locked out by NEA management.

Responsible Investments

PRIORITIES

NEA investments must be free from bullish and unregulated Private Equity Firms.

NEA Member Benefits must promote ethical business practice and divest from predatory corporations.

NEA must provide membership with robust education about pension viability and retirement options.

PROGRESS SO FAR

Since 2018, I have served as a leading advocate for Retirement Plus reform, contributing to the passage of 2023 legislation to admit former ESP members, out-of-state transfers, and individuals on parental leave into Mass Teachers Retirement System (MTRS).

I have brought forward over 10 New Business Items authored by rank-and-file members to address the Private Equity Crisis in our state pension systems.

As a Board Director on MTA Benefits, I have demanded accountability, dissociation, and divestment from benefits organizations that cannibalize the union movement and take advantage of MTA members.

LET’s WORK TOGETHER!
